NEXT MATCH PREVIEW

PETERBOROUGH SPORTS VS WORKSOP TOWN

Date: Monday 25th August

Kick-off: 3pm

Stadium: PIMS Park, Lincoln Road, PE1 3HA

Peterborough Sports welcome Worksop Town on a forecasted sunny bank holiday Monday (3pm) at PIMS Park as Michael Gash and Luke Steele’s side look for their first win of the Enterprise National League North campaign.

Turbines claimed their first point of the season last Tuesday with a 0-0 draw at home against Leamington FC but suffered a 3-1 defeat to Scarborough Athletic two days ago; with Luca Miller on the scoresheet.

Opponents, the Tigers’, secured their first win of the season at the weekend with a 2-0 home win against Southport; courtesy of early second-half strikes.

Team News

Luke Steele and Michael Gash continue to be without the services of forwards Shaquile Coulthirst, Kaine Felix and Mark Jones but the latter is said to be close to returning to action.

Bayley McCann was forced off in the opening minutes of the defeat to Scarborough Athletic with a back injury and will be assessed before making a decision on his availability ahead of upcoming fixtures. Luca Miller started his first match for the club, netting the Turbines consolation goal, and will be keen to continue on from his good performance.

Management Quotes

Joint-manager Luke Steele said: “It’s obviously been a difficult start to the season. We’ve been unlucky with injuries to key players but we’ve utilised our squad. So far results haven’t been what we’ve wanted and some of our performances weren’t up to standard. However, we’re not panicking. We stick together as a group; everybody knows their role. We’re a young side and I’m sure we will get where we want to be in the upcoming weeks.”
